I have been home from work 15 days now. Yesterday, they announced that schools will be closed, to students, until May 4. They announced 426 confirmed cases today. That is the highest number we have had here in Ontario so far.

I am seeing so many people judging others. Hurtful comments on social media and unnecessary attempts at shaming neighbours. The negativity, is rising, the longer this is going on.  I may not agree with others on how they are handling the situation but I realize, that we are all doing our best. This is unknown territory for all of us. There was no practice drill growing up, to prepare us, for anything of this sort.

I am lucky that I am surrounded by loving, positive individuals and I try to spend most of my time in those circles. Still, the negativity will always find a way to sneak in. That is when I have to remind myself, what is in my circle, that I can control:

  • My own attitude
  • My own self isolating rules
  • How much time I give to social media and the news
  • My friends I socialize online with
  • How I spend my day
  • How I react
  • what I eat
  • exercise

The circle of control was developed by Stephen Covey. If you have never read The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People I recommend picking it up.

Please try and spread positivity and not judge others. We cannot control how others act or think.  We don’t know their story. This is a very difficult time for all of us.

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy,

Michelle

  1. VISTA HERMOSA NATURAL PARK Vista Hermosa isn t a particularly unknown park, but it manages to feel secluded and private on even its busiest days. The views of downtown are unparalleled, and the tiers of grass and windy paths make for an extremely relaxing environment. It s an urban natural park maintained by the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, so the park also features way more biodiversity and conservation efforts than any regular public space. Relaxing and feeling good about the environment what could be better? Golden hour is the best time to hang out here because there s no better view than the downtown skyline contrasted with a cotton candy sunset.
